Add Hope is the platform for KFC’s work to operate as a good citizen both in the local communities we serve and as a part of our global community. In particular, we want to play a role in ending the crisis of hunger for the millions of people affected around the world. Add Hope aims to highlight and drive action for that movement by increasing money raised annually for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and other hunger relief agencies around the globe, and encouraging volunteerism.
Yum! Brands originally launched this World Hunger Relief effort in 2007 and to date 1.5 million of the Company’s employees, franchisees and their families have volunteered millions of hours to aid these hunger relief efforts in communities worldwide. The effort has raised $600 million for WFP and other hunger relief organizations and is helping to provide 2.4 billion meals that can save the lives of millions of people in remote corners of the world.
We understand, however, that hunger has no borders. Hunger affects nearly one billion people around the world every day. With your help, we can make a huge impact and help end hunger around the world. Together we can Add Hope.
WFP is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 80 million people in more than 82 countries. Since 2007, KFC has helped to raise more than US$110 million for WFP's greatest needs, making a difference for more than 10 million people in 60 countries.
WFP’s mission is to save lives and livelihoods, and to improve the nutrition, food security and self-reliance of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people. They provide not just a hand out, but rather a hand up:
- helping villages and communities lift themselves from chronic malnutrition by helping build infrastructures (roads, bridges, schools, medical clinics) in exchange for food
- providing food and resources to build self-sustaining communities in the most impoverished corners of the world
- providing school feeding as platform for nutritional interventions
The World Food Programme also works to address hunger needs in crisis situations, such as recent efforts to support:
- Earthquake affected communities in Nepal and Ecuador
- Typhoon Haiyan survivors in the Philippines
- Communities affected by conflict in Syria
As a truly global restaurant brand, we believe we have a responsibility to our community on both a local and global scale. The power and reach of our global system of restaurants, committed franchisees, employees and vendors enables us to interact with millions of customers every day, giving us an amazing opportunity to engage millions of people who visit KFC to join us in adding hope to end world hunger.

No. Your donation goes directly to feeding people who would otherwise be faced with the possibility of not having anything to eat. Funds donated by customers during World Hunger month every year in October will directly support the greatest needs of WFP's food relief programs in the least developed nations around the world as well as local hunger work being done in various countries. The Yum! Foundation will make a matching contribution of all consumer funds raised during World Hunger Relief to cover WFP's global administrative fees ($2 million).
